About Bodies of Water

Established in 2022, Bodies of Water is a Black owned fashion-house founded by Cohen Waters Jr. Inspired by the community & the locals of Chicago, Bodies of Water provides a lens into inner-city Black culture with fashion & events. We offer commentary on equality along with the struggles of black people around the world. Bodies of Water is an advancement from Cohen's introductory brand WTRS*, which was founded in 2019 in their living room.

About Cohen Waters Jr

Born & raised on the Southside of Chicago, Cohen is a multi-disciplinary artist. Before graduating from Wendell Phillips High School, they had interests in doing art full-time. They received great success in the community along with other Chicago creatives with the launch of WTRS* in 2019-2022. After high school, Cohen attended Northern Michigan University; playing football & majoring in graphic design. Ultimately, they would decide to leave the university, continuing to prevail in the industry without formal fashion training.

About WTRS*

Born in the living room of Cohen's childhood home, WTRS* was their first big project. Due to the lack of funds for designer clothing, they decided to make their own; naming the brand after their last name. Cohen cultivated many streetwear pieces including graphic tees, hoodies, sweats, and most widely acclaimed trucker hats. The use of rhinestones, pins, and eye-catching graphics was signature for WTRS*. The brand would slow down and ultimately be ended due to mental health, financial problems Cohen faced, and the idea of continuing WTRS* more maturely.

“Making a successful luxury brand in nine years is genius. It’s a feat that I admire and hope to continue building upon with a rich legacy. He revolutionised streetwear and luxury that crosses generations and decades. He showed the world that the underrepresented, the underdogs and Black people, in particular, have brilliant minds and can push and compete equally in the establishment. He inspired hope and brought about change.” - Ibrahim Kamara, Art&Image Director Off-White™
